Ángela Vera, Artista Visual

The Artist

Art That Speaks
From the Soul

Ángela Vera is a visual artist based in Miami, FL whose work is distinguished by its intuitive, sensitive, and deeply personal approach. Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, her practice draws from expressionism, abstract impressionism, and especially pointillism — a technique she uses to create texture, movement, and depth through small, carefully applied brushstrokes. Her watercolor and pointillist work is entirely self-taught.

Her education includes studies in art history, interior design, and languages, as well as oil painting under Spanish master Alberto Pancorbo in Miami. She is currently deepening her practice through studies in world literature (University of Geneva), art and society (Duke University), and courses in contemporary art and photography (MoMA).

Her work is held in private collections across the United States, the Caribbean, and Europe. Active member of Artboxy and Miami Watercolor Society since 2025.

Artist Statement

Roots & Wings

"In the intimate silence of my being, memories flow. The scent of ripe mango, fresh limoncillo, and orange blossom awakens in me a symphony of sensations that lay dormant, gently, in some corner of the soul. Painting became my way of listening to myself — of understanding, of honoring."

My parents taught me that beauty is diversity, patience, and rootedness. What is essential lies in the simple, in the intimate, in the family home. I carry in my blood an ancient mixture of Corsican and Spanish, but my heart bloomed on the most beautiful island of the Caribbean: the Dominican Republic.

Every human being has a story within them that must be told, and it honors me to tell them without words. My impressionist pointillist technique in watercolor is not just a style — it is an act of patience, of surrender. Each dot is a breath, a necessary silence, a conversation with the invisible that invites you to look closely, to pause. I hope, with each stroke, to open a door to empathy, to connection. Sometimes a painting is enough for two souls to recognize each other without having exchanged a word.

Thank you for drawing near my universe. If any of my works touches your soul, it was all worth it.

What They Say

Voices

"Her watercolors are not simple splashes of color. They are little pieces of her story, drops of her tenderness, reflections of her clear gaze. In each one there is a hidden emotion, a sigh that escapes from the paper. There are artists who seek perfection, but Angelín seeks the truth. And that is why her art moves you."

Freddy Ginebra

Cultural Manager, Writer & Journalist

"An amazing new talent recently joined the Miami Watercolor Society. Angela Vera's paintings express a joyful spirit of modern impressionist whimsy. Her paintings often transform into surrealist creations with many layers, movement, and unique patterns that leave the imagination in a state of wonder."

"During the exhibition in Paris, your pieces radiated a vibrant energy that deeply connected with viewers. Artworks with great conceptual clarity and authentic emotional expression, like yours, consistently attracted visitors' attention. Many stopped to take photos, immerse themselves in the pieces. This response confirmed the powerful connection your art creates."

"It is painted with a modernist touch and seems very realistic. I think your brush does not paint, but caresses. Each stroke of yours is a caress to the world, an attempt to make it more habitable, more human, more beautiful."
